Embroidery is the most authentic medium for Ottoman-inspired fabrics. Great care has also been taken to imitate the faded beauty of textiles dating from this period through gradations of colour, making it possible to mix these new fabrics with vintage or antique ones. Rich reds fade to rosy pink, forest greens to misty sage and dramatic indigo to powder blue.
Alidad has created not a pastiche of the period in Bosphorus, but a collection that, while rooted in the past, is also sending out shoots into today.
The designs are scaled down for contemporary interiors and have been placed in wide ornamented stripes, perfect for walling and upholstery as well as curtains.
A range of simpler companion fabrics, many of which repeat key motifs on the leading edge, make it possible to decorate entire rooms with ease.

Alidad has recently joined forces with Chelsea Textiles to produce his first collection of embroidered textiles titled: The Bosphorus Collection
He has drawn on his extensive love and knowledge of 16th-century Ottoman designs to create eight of the designs. The ninth and tenth owe their inspiration to Persian tiles of the same period.
